06-12-2026Construction Update: June 12, 2026
The fences are down, temporary walls have been removed, and it looks like a chapel! From the rich blue carpet with a labyrinth design inset to the gorgeous landscaping and hardscaping to the stunning light from the oculus and windows, the chapel has come together so beautifully. We look forward to the quiet and contemplative sacred space that the chapel will provide on a daily basis for prayer, contemplation, and worship.

05-11-2026Construction Update: May 11, 2026
The Good Faith Chapel is beautiful—inside and out! Landscaping and hardscaping is essentially compete—including a re-paved entrance from Andrews Drive which we expect to be consistently open going forward. In May, we expect flooring to be completed on all levels, installation of outdoor furniture, testing of video screens and mechanical systems, and beginning of punch lists. A mid-summer opening is being planned!

04-10-2026Construction Update: April 10, 2026
March saw incredible progress on the Good Faith Chapel. Landscaping work began in earnest with the planting of several trees and the initial patio installation, the start of tile installation, and more finish wood and metal work completed. April will see sidewalks installed, hundreds of shrubs planted, and continued work on the flooring and ceilings of the narthex and ambulatories. Liturgical furniture has arrived in Georgia and will be ready for installation soon!

Another month of good progress for the Good Faith Chapel! In February, video screen installation was completed, Andrews Drive was patched, and exterior walls and curbs were installed. In addition, workers made good progress on interior metal paneling.

02-05-2026Construction Update: February 5, 2026
What a good month for the Good Faith Chapel! In January, video screen installation began (and is almost complete!), water was connected to the building and a new fire hydrant was installed, and grading commenced. The chapel, wood finishes, and metal paneling are coming together very nicely and look great.

Happy New Year!
Construction of the Good Faith Chapel continues apace! In the month of December, wood trim installation was completed in the Chapel and much of the ambulatories and narthex, and freight elevator was completed. On the exterior, finish metal, slate, and gutters all moved forward.

12-03-2025Construction Update: December 3, 2025
The Good Faith Chapel continues to take shape! Over the past month, teams of carpenters, electricians, metal workers, painters, and elevator technicians have continued installing finish materials in the new worship space. At this point, the walls of the chapel are essentially complete, lightning systems are installed in the basement and partially installed in the Chapel, and the freight elevator installation is almost complete. Outside, the scaffolding has been removed and exterior metal paneling and slate is being installed.

Our hearts are full with the progress on the Good Faith Chapel. This past month final windows and doors were installed (dried in!), air handling systems started, electrical systems turned over, and millwork installation commenced. In addition, interior handrails for balcony and bridge were installed and the supporting wall system for the LED screens was completed.

Progress on the Good Faith Chapel continues with almost sixty craftspeople on-site each day. This past month saw the near completion of exterior stone and glass installation. In addition, the installation of cleating for millwork on the walls and ceiling began. Slate continued to be installed on the roof, exterior, and ambulatory walls; and mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler work continued.

09-04-2025Construction Update: September 4, 2025
A big thank you to the hundreds of parishioners who were able to attend the "pop-up" tour of the Good Faith Chapel at Homecoming in August. Parishioners were able to see the incredible progress on the Chapel, including the oculus, the narthex and ambulatory space, and the chapel space—even a banner that provided an idea of the LED walls that will be installed next year. On the outside, much of the cast stone and roofing is complete.

08-06-2025Construction Update: August 6, 2025
July was a month of significant milestones for the Good Faith Chapel. Most significantly, the oculus arrived and was installed in late July. The "topping out" of the Chapel was witnessed by many construction personnel, Cathedral staff, and neighbors. In addition, installation of the slate roof, exterior stone, interior walls, and mechanical systems continued in July.

In the past month in the Good Faith Chapel, new boilers have been installed, steel work completed, and the chapel roof and outside walls have been sheathed. In addition, mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler work has commenced in earnest. Off-site, the fabrication of the altar, dais, and clergy seating continues. The chapel space is now clearly defined and it all looks beautiful!

The Good Faith Chapel continues to take shape. In the past month, steel work was completed, two new boilers were installed and started, and scaffolding was erected. In addition, concrete was poured on the main level and balcony. Support and fundraising continues to be overwhelmingly positive and has surpassed $29,650,000 from more than 230 families.

05-05-2025Construction Update: May 5, 2025
Construction of the Good Faith Chapel continues apace. In the past month, most of the horizontal and vertical steel was installed, foundation masonry commenced, and decking for levels two and three were completed. In the midst of the great work on-site, on Palm Sunday hundreds of Cathedral parishioners signed a beam to commemorate their communal efforts in this project, and fundraising has surpassed $29,600,000 from more than 230 families.

04-02-2025Construction Update: April 2, 2025
In the past month, the main level and balcony level steel has been erected—including the window arches and framing! Foundation and basement wall waterproofing has also been completed and much of the decking has been installed on the main level. Behind the scenes, new boilers have been delivered and production of the oculus has commenced.
In the coming month, steel work will continue. Additional grading will take place and masonry on the foundation walls will also begin.

03-01-2025Construction Update: March 1, 2025
Since our last update, crews have poured a lot of concrete! Footers, basement walls, and slabs on grade are now in place, and the octagonal form of the building is visible. Mechanical tunnels to the existing building have been laid and interior demolition is nearing completion.

In the coming month, our contractor Holder Construction will begin erecting steel to frame the chapel. Next week, a mobile crane will arrive on site. The crane will remain parked for several months; it will be raised at the beginning of each workday and lowered each evening. -
02-03-2025Construction Update: February 3, 2025
Since our last monthly update, crews have continued to clear and grade the site, demo near the stairwell and cloister, and pour concrete footers and basement walls. And, the relocated Preschool playground is complete.

In the coming month, our contractor Holder Construction will begin pouring slabs on grade, waterproofing the basement walls, and erecting steel to frame the chapel. A mobile crane will be placed on site soon too.
A word on safety—we have noticed neighbors walking up the Andrews Driveway during construction. On weekdays, the driveway is considered an active construction site and not safe for pedestrians. Please utilize the stone path behind the Lanier House to access Andrews Drive during the week. Thank you! -

11-10-2024Groundbreaking and Witness at the Cathedral this Sunday!
Gather with us at the future site of the Good Faith Chapel—the current Andrews Drive playground—at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, November 10! The groundbreaking will include a grand procession around the site of the Good Faith Chapel, as well as prayer and joyful singing. We will dig at the center of the octagonal Good Faith Chapel, together marking the beginning of construction of this new space in our House of Prayer for All People. All are invited to break ground with us! We will have shovels for grown-ups, and shovels for children – along with treats for all.
