After The Chosen
Media Practice and Spirituality

Since 2023, we have gathered to watch and discuss The Chosen, discovering that it is far more than compelling television. Its vivid, human portrayal of Jesus and those around him has sparked meaningful spiritual conversation, inviting us to see familiar biblical stories with fresh eyes and to deepen our understanding of Scripture, one another, and our own faith.

Our continuing focus remains The Chosen. We are revisiting the series together, one episode at a time and in chronological order, finding that each viewing reveals new dimensions of Jesus' ministry, the biblical narrative, and our own journeys of faith. When the next season is released this fall, we look forward to setting aside our review and exploring the new episodes together before resuming our chronological journey. Along the way, members occasionally introduce works that have particularly inspired them—films, visual art, poetry, theology, and other media—and lead the discussion themselves. Rather than taking us away from The Chosen, these conversations use the series as a lens through which to engage these works and, in turn, send us back to Scripture with fresh questions, new insights, and deeper appreciation.

We have come to see The Chosen not simply as an illustration of Scripture but as a conversation partner that helps us enter more deeply into the Gospel story. Together, Scripture, The Chosen, and the insights of participants have fostered a welcoming community of thoughtful spiritual exploration. We continue to welcome newcomers throughout the year—whether longtime Christians, those new to The Chosen, or anyone seeking meaningful conversation about faith.
