This weekend, we celebrate the Feast of All Saints! On All Saints' Day, Sunday, November 1, we will baptize new Christians at the 8:45 and 11:15 a.m services. Those individuals to be baptized are listed here.
Later on Sunday, at 4:00 p.m., we will offer a Choral Requiem Eucharist in remembrance of members and friends of the Cathedral who have died during the past year. We pray for those individuals by name; they are listed here. This service offers comfort and inspiration to all through sublime music and liturgy. The image-rich texts of the Requiem mass—the ancient Christian burial service—will be prayed this year using the music of the Requiem by Dan Locklair sung by the Cathedral Choir and accompanied by a string orchestra and organ. The Rev. Canon Julia Mitchener will preach, and the Very Rev. Sam Candler will celebrate.
Then on Monday, November 2, we will host a holy evening of remembrance and community at our 38th Annual Homeless Requiem. The Homeless Requiem is a service in memory of individuals who have died in the past year while unhoused. Buses will pick up guests—Atlantans currently experiencing homelessness—at various shelters and Woodruff Park, and bring them to the Cathedral where we and our service provider partners offer healthcare screenings, a foot clinic, clothing closet, a communal meal, and more. At 5:45 p.m. guests can enjoy the Choral Prelude by Atlanta Choral Artists, followed by the Requiem Service at 6:30 p.m. Participate in a ministry of presence by worshipping alongside our guests. The preacher this year will be the Rev. Trey Davis, Lower School Chaplain at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, and the Very Rev. Sam Candler will celebrate. You can also donate or volunteer at cathedralATL.org/homelessrequiem.
Please pray with us for these saints, and for all the saints!
