Meet the Honorary Chairs
This year, Cathedral Giving by Design shines a bright light on four women whose dedication to service and education shapes not only our community, but the futures of countless young people. With over 150 years of combined experience in education, Nancy Beane, Sara Chapman, Cheryl Mullins, and Mary Semmes Wright have been named Honorary Chairs for Cathedral Giving by Design 2026.
Their roles as mentors, educators, and community builders have uplifted countless families and fostered a spirit of inclusion and hope that radiates far beyond the Cathedral’s corridors. Their background and experience are well aligned with the mission of this year’s beneficiary, Global Village Project.
- Nancy serves on the Cathedral Preschool Board of Directors, the Cathedral Scholars Committee, Newcomers Committee, and is a member of St. Anne’s Guild. She is also a lay chalice bearer and lay reader/intercessor.
- Sara has just completed her second term on the Cathedral chapter. She has served for thirty-five years in Children’s Ministries as Director of the Annual Christmas Pageant and Children’s Chapel Worship Leader. She works with Parish Life events and chairs the Newcomer’s Committee. She also serves as a lay chalice bearer.
- Cheryl has served our community as a chapter member and as Junior Warden. Cheryl has also served as a verger, a Cathedral Bookstore volunteer, a Sunday school teacher, volunteered with the Cathedral's prison ministry, and has served on the Board of Friends of Cathedral Music. She is a current member of St. Veronica's Guild and the Altar Guild.
- Mary Semmes taught at the Cathedral Preschool for thirty years, was Chair of Cathedral Archives for thirty-eight years, and served as a member of the Chapter Nominating Committee. She was President, Treasurer and Program Chair of St. Elizabeth’s Guild and volunteered with many Cathedral Antique Shows. She is a member of Altar Guild.
This year’s beneficiary, Global Village Project (GVP) is the only U.S. middle school focused on the educational needs of recently resettled refugee girls, many of whom have had years of interrupted schooling or are attending school for the first time. GVP restores access to holistic, high-quality education, helping students prepare for high school and future success as they adapt to a new country, a new language, a new home, and new school communities after displacement through trauma, conflict, and war.
We invite you to honor these distinguished women by supporting Cathedral Giving by Design, benefiting the Global Village Project, January 23-24, 2026. |
