Fall Snack Drive for LaAmistad Students

Can you help us provide snacks for LaAmistad students who will be returning to the Cathedral for afterschool tutoring in early September?

Our young friends from Garden Hills Elementary School will be coming back to the Cathedral for another year of academic enrichment and fun, and they will be hungry. Please bring contributions of the following to the LaAmistad table in the atrium on Sunday mornings August 10-September 7:

  • Individual sized bags of pre-popped popcorn, pretzels, Goldfish crackers, veggie chips, Pirate’s Booty, etc.
  • Cereal bars, protein bars, granola bars (no nuts, please), beef jerky sticks
  • Non-perishable, individually wrapped sweet treats like cookies, Rice Krispy treats, fruit snacks, etc.
  • Non-perishable pouches of yogurt (such as GoGo Squeeze)
  • In September, long-lasting fruits such as small apples and clementines

Thank you for helping us fill up little bellies so our students can focus and learn!

Through our partnership with LaAmistad, the Cathedral hosts two dozen Latino students from Garden Hills Elementary School four afternoons per week. Cathedral staff and volunteers provide a warm welcome, snacks, a weekly chapel service, supervised play time, and seasonal celebrations. LaAmistad tutors help students with schoolwork. Parishioners with a particular interest such as knitting, arts and crafts, sports, cooking, or music can volunteer to teach their hobby to the children.
