This Sunday, October 11, we celebrate the Feast of St. Philip here at the Cathedral of St. Philip! And, we welcome the Right Rev. Robert Wright, Bishop of Atlanta, for a parish visitation!
The Very Rev. Sam Candler, Dean of the Cathedral, will celebrate and preach at the 7:45 a.m. service. Then, we will baptize new Christians at the 8:45 a.m. service, as is our tradition on this feast day and other major feasts throughout the year. Dean Candler will celebrate, and Bishop Wright will preach.
Bishop Wright will also teach at the Dean’s Forum at 10:10 a.m. in the Good Faith Chapel.
At the 11:15 a.m. service, Bishop Wright will celebrate, preach, and confirm 14 Cathedral members. Pray for all of these confirmands and congratulate them for reaching these milestones of their Christian faith!
The day continues with an organ recital from Katherine Jolliff at 3:15 p.m., and the Cathedral Schola singing a Choral Eucharist at 4 p.m. (David Briggs’ beautiful Truro Eucharist). The Rev. Canon Julia Mitchener will celebrate and preach. Finally, we close the day with a quiet Contemplative Eucharist at 5:22 p.m. in the Good Faith Chapel, with the Rev. Canon George Maxwell celebrating and preaching.
