20 musicians gather to celebrate 20 years of great music by the ABO, with selections chosen by you, our audience! Program includes Handel’s Water Music and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. III, among other audience and musician favorites featuring an impressive array of wind instruments—baroque piccolo/flute, oboes, natural horns, trumpets, and bassoon.

Holiday Brass Concert
The Atlanta Symphony Brass

For more than a quarter century, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s brass section has been venerated as one of the finest in the world. These musicians hail from all corners of the United States and were selected to be a part of this long-standing tradition of excellence by audition before a panel of ASO Brass players alongside the Music Director. They have worked tirelessly as a team to maintain the highest standards of brass playing throughout their careers and to unify their sounds into a beautiful array of colors.
In this new venture this year, the Atlanta Symphony Brass will perform some of the best arrangements of holiday and symphonic music written specifically for brass ensemble and percussion. It will be an evening of delightful music and great brass playing, not to be missed!

Join us for a delightful evening of musical gems for boys’ voices by Britten and Poulenc, to name but two of the great composers whose music will be presented on this concert. The Choir of St Paul’s Cathedral, London, is one of the most renowned Choirs of Men & Boys in the world. Known worldwide from its many recordings and, throughout modern history, its participation in services on national occasions, most recently HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (2012) and the funeral of Baroness Thatcher (2013), the Choir’s main responsibility is to sing the daily choral services of St Paul’s Cathedral, for which it maintains one of the largest active choral repertoires of any choir, anywhere.

ABO’s Artistic Administrator and Violinist Evan Few takes the helm as Guest Director for our final concert of the season, celebrating the flourishing of musical arts in 17th- and 18th-century Rome with a program featuring selections from Arcangelo Corelli’s beloved Concerti Grossi and a variety of other gems from members of his circle.

Atlanta Summer Organ Festival Recital

Presented by Delbert Lowell Jacks in memory of Thomas Ruben Jones, and by Friends of Cathedral Music
Robert Huw Morgan is the University Organist at Stanford University, a position he has held since 1999. A native of Wales, he received his BA and MA from Cambridge University and in 1989 became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. In 1999, he was awarded two doctorates in music, one in organ performance and the other in orchestral conducting, from the University of Washington. His teachers have included Carole Terry, Nicolas Kynaston (repertoire) and Nigel Allcoat (improvisation). Dr. Morgan performs a wide range of repertoire, from the earliest sources to the present day. In 2005, he performed the complete organ works of Buxtehude and, during the academic year 2010-2011, the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach. In addition to his duties as University Organist, he also holds the positions of Lecturer in Music, Director of the Stanford University Singers, and Director of the Stanford Memorial Church Choir.
