Labyrinth Walk and Taizé

Get your week off to a peaceful start with a labyrinth walk and Taizé this Monday, March 18. A labyrinth introduction will take place at 6:30 p.m. in Child Hall, followed by a facilitated walk from 7-8 p.m. The Taizé prayer service starts at 8 p.m. in Mikell Chapel. As we walk the labyrinth and pray at Taizé this Lenten season, let us look within and listen to that inner voice speaking to us for peace and reconciliation in our lives. Use the labyrinth path we walk to “Release, Receive and Return,” to get back on track with our spiritual lives, or perhaps to find a new way. Originating in Taizé, France, this simple service of scripture, music, and candlelight will bring a beautiful and prayerful close to your Monday. The labyrinth and Taizé take place every third Monday of the month. Come to one, or both – and bring a friend!

Contemplative Spirituality Group Offering

Contemplative living is a way of being in the world with an attention to the awareness of God’s presence in our lives. This group, led by Barbara Pendergrast (a spiritual director, chaplain, and Cathedral parishioner), invites us to practice listening to self and each other differently, to become more familiar with contemplative ways of being in the world, to practice staying present with self and others in those places that we want to change or fix in ourselves and others, to be introduced to literature and learning around contemplative writers and practitioners, to form spiritual community, and to have the opportunity to receive God’s love through setting aside intentional time for that awareness.

Icons are vehicles through which we can see beyond or through an image to more deeply experience the holy. Our experiences can serve a similar purpose when reflected on together in community. Join the women of the Cathedral on the 2018 Lenten Retreat, March 2-4 at Kanuga in Hendersonville, North Carolina, as we use the stories of scripture, our own lives, poetry, images, a contemplative art offering, and silence to more deeply cull the graces God gifts us.
