An article for The Cathedral Times
by the Very Rev. Sam Candler, Dean of the Cathedral
November 10, 2024
Grace to you, and peace, in Jesus Christ our Lord! When we gather at church this Sunday, many of us will be considering the outcome of election day, November 5, 2024. I am writing this article, however, on November 4, 2024, without knowing what November 5 will bring.
Whatever November 5, 2024 brings, we will gather on November 10, 2024, for an incredible and important witness. We will gather to break ground for The Good Faith Chapel, a new chapel of prayer at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Our witness is this: whatever the rest of the United States does after November 5, 2024, the Cathedral of St. Philip will be breaking ground for prayer.
We will be breaking ground for a new form of common prayer, a prayer which encourages hearing each other and seeing each other, and a prayer which is open to the sky, open to the fullness of a truly transcendent God.
Please join us for prayer this Sunday! Please join us to break ground for The Good Faith Chapel!
The Very Reverend Samuel G. Candler
Dean of the Cathedral of St. Philip
