Continuing our emphasis on “Social Distance For The Common Good,” the Cathedral of St. Philip will close its campus at 2744 Peachtree Road, for two weeks, beginning Sunday, March 15, 2020. Our doors will be locked to the general public from March 15 through March 29, 2020.
Our doors will be closed in the interest of public health, and for the common good. We believe that self-distancing, and not gathering in large groups, is the best way we can serve the people of God. Canon George Maxwell and our excellent staff will be in touch with various groups and meetings whose schedules will be affected by this decision, and we hope you understand.
During this time, all the ministers of the Cathedral—clergy and lay—expect to be fully engaged in service. We are planning many occasions for online interaction. We are calling and conversing and tending and pastoring and caring. Please contact us through the Cathedral communication lines for anything you might need. And watch for creative online offerings! Watch for this Sunday’s sermon, too, which will be posted before Sunday!
All this is to say: We love you. And we love the people of this community. As I have observed before, the Cathedral of St. Philip, with its many parochial entities and ministries—from the Cathedral Preschool to the Cathedral Farmers Market to the Cathedral Towers—is really a village. This beautiful Cathedral campus is a village of holy life and holy spirit. We want health and peace for this village, and for all our holy neighbors, whether members here or not. We believe in Good Faith and the Common Good. Peace is contagious!
