The Cathedral of St. Philip - Atlanta, GA

Alleluia! Christ Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

An article from the Cathedral Times
by the Very Reverend Samuel G. Candler,
Dean of the Cathedral of St. Philip

On behalf of this glorious parish, the people of the Cathedral of St. Philip, I bless you with Easter joy on this Feast of the Resurrection!

Because our Lord is risen from the dead, we can be changed, too. We can die to the old life of bitterness and anger and death. We can be born again into a life of hope and joy and life. This is what the Christian Church proclaims from generation to generation, and it is what the Cathedral proclaims at this holy season. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to each of you who has helped make resurrection life possible in this beautiful community of faith!

Said St. Paul, "Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: "˜Death has been swallowed up in victory.'

"˜Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?' The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15.51-57).

Yes, thanks be to God!
