The Rev. Canon Julia Mitchener

The Rev. Canon Julia Boyd Mitchener grew up in Mississippi. She is a graduate of Davidson College and received her Master of Divinity degree from Yale University. She worked for two years as a chaplain at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina while beginning her ordination process. After becoming a priest in the year 2000, she served as an associate rector at Christ Church, Charlotte, then at St. Paul’s Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, focusing on the areas of outreach and Christian formation for children and adults. From 2010-2019, Julia spent much of her time engaged in the ministry of motherhood. She also did supply work at St. Paul’s Church, Cleveland Heights, Ohio and served as priest associate at Christ Church, Macon, the mother church of the Diocese of Atlanta. Julia is passionate about preaching, teaching, writing, and engaging people in the great story of our redemption in new and creative ways. She and her husband, Jack, have two children, Sanders and Margaret.
