St. Anne’s Guild, as ambassadors for Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM) at the Cathedral, will again be grateful for your support in August of the ministry’s new “client choice” food pantry. Last year, the Cathedral took the lead by raising over $9,000 in seed money for this exciting concept. Then, in our February drive, your gifts exceeded that record in the amount of $10,618. Today, thanks to your generosity, BCM has completed the necessary physical build-out of their pantry space and purchased software that will allow clients to shop for their own food instead of receiving pre-selected food bags. Also, more fresh foods can be offered thanks to new partnerships with local suppliers and farmers. BCM is also happy to announce the recent hiring of Robyn Hazelrigs as its food pantry manager. She will implement every aspect of the new pantry concept, especially the option for clients to choose food items via a touchscreen computer.
BCM now asks for monetary donations in our semi-annual drives (August and February) because they are carefully transitioning to the systematic purchase of specific foods from selected suppliers in order to control quality and inventory. Its purchasing power with your donations of $20 or more will be substantial. Please make your check to: the Cathedral of St. Philip, with “BCM Drive” on the note line. If, however, you really like to shop, BCM has shared a small list of specific items that they need at this particular time: peanut butter, grape jelly, rice, canned black beans, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Look for St. Anne’s members in the Atrium every Sunday in August to receive your donations or feel free to make your gifts either at the Atrium kiosk or online at cathedralATL.org/BCM.
