St. Anne’s Guild heartily thanks all at the Cathedral for their generous support of Buckhead Christian Ministry’s new client choice food assistance program. As administrators of the Cathedral’s semi-annual drives for BCM, St. Anne’s can happily and gratefully report that a record amount of $10,925 and $175 worth of specified items was collected in August.
BCM’s goals with their new food pantry concept are for individualized attention to client health, choice, and dignity, as well as heightened food quality. A staff position has been added for the most efficient administration of the pantry. In addition to the stated goals, BCM can now offer clients the ability to select or “shop” for food and other needed items via computer screen. The new concept will also enable BCM to better partner with supporting churches like the Cathedral as well as local food suppliers and farmers.
BCM’s aim to offer locally sourced fresh food options to their clients can only be realized by the purchase and installation of two industrial refrigerators in the new pantry space. Each refrigerator was estimated to cost approximately $10,000. Recognizing this need, St. Anne’s set a goal to raise $10,000 in its August drive and parishioners answered their call with resources to spare! Also, the Children’s Ministry of the Cathedral stepped up with a pledge to designate all offerings given in the Children’s Chapel to BCM throughout the year. Again, we are most grateful for everyone’s participation and faithful support of our neighbors in need!
