Cathedral Seeks Assistant Youth Minister

Under the supervision of the Canon for Education and the Director of Youth Ministries, the Assistant Youth Minister will work closely with the Director of Youth Ministries to nurture relationships with youth; design and lead programs (like EYC); teach Bible studies and Sunday school; coach acolytes; and assist with special events, retreats, and trips. Training in Godly Play, the main curriculum in our children’s programs, will be provided.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Interest in working with youth
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate with others
  • Availability on Sundays and some evenings (with Fridays off )
Preferred
  • Experience in working with Youth
  • Background in The Episcopal Church

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate as a full member of the Cathedral of St. Philip staff and community
  • Attend regular programs (Sunday School, EYC, Bible Study, High-School Breakfasts, Wednesday dinners, etc.)
  • Lead weekly EYC programming
  • Assist in leading and planning Bible Study
  • Help with special family events (Shrove Tuesday dinner, Ash Wednesday Family Service, Blessing of Backpacks, etc.)
  • Lead the Youth Acolytes during the 8:45 and 11:15 services
  • Serve as a pastoral presence to youth, engaging them through text, card, call, or by attending sporting events, plays, concerts, or lunch
  • Maintain social media accounts for the Youth Ministry Programs
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities, including book studies with the whole Education team
  • Complete Safeguarding God's Children training
  • Pass a background check
